Come Skate With Me

I'm feeling the need to don my skates, it has been too long and I'm having withdrawals. I found these fabulous skating posters a while ago and am contemplating framing them. I particularly love the 'Naked On Skates'! You'll be very pleased to know that I will NEVER do that!

There is relief ahead though. 'WHIP IT' is coming to a theatre near you and you had better believe that I will be there - with my skates!!! There will definitely be some skating mayhem after the movie so stay out of Yarraville for a couple of weeks.

In Bodeen, Texas, an indie-rock loving misfit finds a way of dealing with her small-town misery after she discovers a roller derby league in nearby Austin.

I can not wait - I haven't been this excited about a movie in forever.

I couldn't believe my luck!! And once again I marvelled at the generosity and general loveliness of the blogging world - and clearly my CHALK customers are rippers as well!

So thanks to Kelly, Gidget and I went off to the HANNAH MONTANA MOVIE premiere this morning at the Jam Factory. Gidget was thrilled and loved every minute of her big outing.

And I got to see a movie that I thought I was going to have to sneak off to in secret.

As Hannah Montana's popularity begins to take over her life, Miley Stewart, on the urging from her father takes a trip to her hometown of Crowley Corners, Tennessee to get some perspective on what matters in life the most. The movie boasts many special appearances with Vanessa Williams, Taylor Swift, Tyra Banks and others popping up throughout the movie.

It was a great movie - all the Disney boxes were ticked with some lovely moments between Miley and her dad Billy Ray. (I don't know if I was over tired but I am afraid to say that I actually cried, and not just once either!!) The cast were all delightful, Miley got to have a chaste kiss, and the more country music they can squeeze into a movie the better as far as I'm concerned!

It was also fantastic to have a special outing with my special girl. Now that she is at school I feel I hardly see her so sharing the Hannah experience was double the fun.

So if you get a chance, and you can grab a kid to give you cred - get yourself to HANNAH MONTANA The Movie.

Now I Want To Go To Italy

I really shouldn't blog late at night after watching a gorgeous Italian steam up the screen. I'm likely to turn the whole site into an ode to Raoul Bova!

I'd be happy to lie 'Under The Tuscan Sun' with Raoul, or even just gaze at him from afar.....sigh! Maybe we'd live here and have dozens of babies....

Maybe I should wake up now! Besides my husband is just as hot and I've already had babies with him so I'm way ahead of the game already. Kingsville is not quite Tuscany but 2 out of 3 isn't bad!

Carrie Causes Mayhem In Yarraville

Last night I was absolutely astonished at the amount of women who live in Yarraville and it's surrounds. There are hoards of them and apparently I am the only one of this multitude who did not watch Sex And The City devotedly! It honestly crossed my mind that if the movie didn't screen for some reason there would be a massive stampede of angry women through the streets of Yarraville and nothing would stand in their way. Luckily all went smoothly.

For a non-believer I found myself at the midnight pre-view of SITC on Monday night, and back again on Tuesday night for round 2!! Why? You may well ask.

My lovely friend Krissa works for the Sun Theater and invited me along to their pre-view screening and who am I to knock back a free movie and a girls night out? I figured that even if the movie was shit I would still have had a chance to catch up with Krissa and have a natter. Unfortunately I had already committed to seeing the movie with some of the Prep Mums from Gidget's school and really didn't want to back out of that either. Once again I decided that a chat and a cuppa with a lovely group of girls far outweighed the possibility of sitting through SITC twice in the space of 24 hours.

I was never a fan of the show - I didn't dislike it, I just didn't love it.

I figured that I knew enough about the girls and their history to not hate the movie so off I trotted feeling slightly guilty that someone as ambivalent as myself was getting to see the movie before so many die-hard Carrie fans.

Imagine my surprise when not only did I not hate it - I actually really enjoyed it!!!

I even enjoyed it just as much the second time!!

So the moral of this tale is this - even if you weren't a Sex In The City fan, the movie stands alone as a great chick flick with a lot of depth and heart. It is well worth the hype from a script point of view and engendered much interesting discussion over a few Cosmopolitans afterwards.

Keep Them Coming

One of the best things about having a blog is the wonderful comments and recommendations I get from regular readers. One of the best parts of my day is opening up my email and finding comments left on my blog. It still gives me such a thrill.

This week I have been following up on a couple of suggestions from fellow bloggers and it has been well worth the effort.

First up Lou from Totally Innocent was astounded to find out that I had never experienced the joy that is 'Stand By Me'.

She had watched it with her boys recently and told me I just had to see it. A couple of days later I stumbled across it in K-Mart for $8.00 and knew I had to get it. That was a couple of weeks ago I it was only last night that I finally got around to watching it.

Well Lou, you'll be pleased to know that I loved it. I found it an absolutely delightful movie and can see why it enjoys such 'classic' status. The performances were spot on and it was a very poignant tale told with grace and humour. It's now on my 'must see' list for anyone else who is yet to see it.

Last night I received a message from Whitney in America who had been looking at my book list and wanted to know if I had read 'Twilight' by Stephanie Meyer. This is part of the message she left me....

"I was reading your list of books you have read and what you are reading and I have to say YOU NEED TO READ Twilight http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/twilight.html It is right up your alley. It is a teen romance . It is one of those that make you want to have that giddy, just met the perfect boy, does he notice me, should I drive by his house feeling again."

Needless to say after that introduction I literally rushed to the Sun Bookshop to see if Deb could get it in for me. Just my luck, a shipment was arriving that afternoon and she promised to call me as soon as it arrived. Apparently she is just as big a fan as Whitney and can't believe I haven't experienced the joy. At 5.45 my phone rang with the good news and I now have books 1 and 2 of the Twilight series in my hot little hands. Stay tuned for my review.... I can't wait.
