Unbelievable!

The place is called Favela - and is a poor neighbourhood on the Santa Maria hill in Rio de Janeiro. The project is sponsored by a local paint company - and the painters are locals, who have been educated while working on the project.  Doesn't it look amazing - that would put a smile on your face every morning.

Nena Pasadena

Eliza from Shh...it's LizeyLou and I have been checking out Buddy Franklin's new label 'Nena Pasadena' for her enormously tall husband (6ft 5) and commenting on the gorgeous arms on the model.  We're assuming it's Buddy but who cares really - very hot.

Witchery Kids

The wait is almost over... Witchery Kids will be launching across 18 Witchery concept stores in Australia and New Zealand, and online, from August 27 2010.

Can't wait to see what it is like - hopefully Gidget will now have somewhere decent to shop as they will be stocking sizes 2 - 9 which gives us a year or two.

Sophia Bush

I adore this woman - she is an actress that lights up the screen and is as sexy as all hell.

Lately she and her boyfriend, Austin Nichols, have been tirelessly campaigning to raise money and awareness of the Gulf crisis, visiting the area and actually getting their hands dirty to try to help and understand the situation.  Sophia has now decided to help in another way and is training for a marathon to also raise money for the Gulf.  You can read her personal blog here which is an interesting insight into Sophia.

They are using the site CROWDRISE which was started by Edward Norton as a social fund raising site.  Drop by and see what else Sophia is up to.

Sophia has also written an open letter to Urban Outfitters in the US which has gone viral on the internet as she slams their use of a T-Shirt which promotes the Pro-Anorexia Movement.  Sophia was so disgusted she has made sure everyone knows about it. The letter can also be found on her blog.

You can see why Sophia is one of my very favourite people.  She is using her public profile to shine a light on issues that touch a cord with her and I have nothing but admiration for her....

Just Beautiful - and kind of hilarious

This lovely, lovely book made me smile, cry and laugh out loud - Lennie and her nutty family are just delightful.

CHALK Kensington Update

My Dad asked me today how the shop build was going and I realised that anyone who isn't on Facebook probably doesn't know how it's progressing, therefore I thought I'd post some photos here for anyone who's interested.

Thanks to the very gifted and talented Surfer Boy we almost have a completed shop.  Over the weekend the counter and the centre tables went in too so there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel.

This week I'll be making a new list of all the bits and pieces we still need to do before the big opening day... luckily we have our staff sorted now which is a huge load off my mind.  Our delightful new staff Lou and Jono will join Eliza in the empire that is CHALK!

I Need A Desk

As the time for extending gets closer I'm gettting more and more frustrated by my lack of space.  At the moment my office space consistes of one end of the dining table and it isn't ideal to say the least.  I'm finding that now that we are expanding CHALK as well and opening a second shop I need an office more desperately than ever.  I have to content myself with pictures of other people's desks while I wait not-so-patiently for my own.

Jim Denevan

My lovely and talented friend Kris from Townmouse thought I would like to see the work of artist Jim Denevan and she was absolutely right . Jim Denevan is the founder and organizer of a worldwide movable feast called Outstanding in the Field. The images are gorgeous.

Not only are Jim's movable feasts amazing but he is renowned for his art in the sand.

Thanks Kris - I love it.

I love Nina's home because she exemplifies my design philosophy of surrounding yourself in the things you love.  She even has a wonderful portrait (in the mirror) that I am coveting to match mine.
