Surfer Boy had a great day - he just happened to go to house to undercoat the windows and to his delight there was a crane in the driveway. He ended up rigging the loads for the crane driver and thoroughly enjoyed himself. Apparently we now have timber trusses and a kick-arse steel truss for our second storey roof.

I believe that the design of roof trusses is important, and the structure of the trusses can elaborately assign the load to prevent gathering the whole load in some small area. Stability is the most important.
While building a house deciding which style of roof to have should not be chosen on looks alone, there are important factors that been to be considered, like the stresses the building may encounter and its location.
