One of my so-called friends has been teasing me shamelessly about my intention to make Christmas bunting. Well little Miss Smarty Pants, not only am I going to... I've already started and VERY SOON you will eat your words! While I am waiting for that moment, here are some other people's Christmas bunting...
I think we must have put the evil eye on our fridge as it has suddenly decided it doesn't have any interest in being cold any longer. Surfer Boy tried to weave his particular brand of magic but to no avail - he got the freezer working again and although the firidge is now cool it is far from cold. Looks like we're making a purchase tomorrow.
I'm leaning towards the side-by-side variety due to our family's unnatural liking for ice-cream. We never seem to have a freezer big enough so, short of getting a seperate one, this may be the answer.
I've also decided that I want my fridge to be white. If I can't have an industrial fridge (lack of space) then I want a white one, that can handle reams of artwork and birthday party invites without hindering it's mojo.
I just realised I never shared any of the Halloween photos - the kids had an absolute ball and we ended up with 58 people at one point! I'm looking forward to hosting Halloween next year when hopefully the house will be a little larger!!
We've started to get a flurry of emails from our architect wanting us to decide on various elements of the house. Unfortunately I was so sure that this renovation would never get the go-ahead that I completly blanked it from my mind so as to save myself from crushing disappointment.
Now I have to let her know what windows we want for each room and so the googleing begins...
It's a glorious day today in Melbourne and I have visions of myself arriving home from work sitting in a wicker chair on the balcony of this house sipping a mint julep and reading 'The Great Gatsby' while someone lovely packs me a picnic dinner to take down to the lake that I'm sure is just out of shot..... Ahhhh it's relaxing just dreaming about it.
I can't quite believe it but after 18 months we have FINALLY had our extension rubber stamped!! No conditions, no changes - it's done. I'm still in shock and I think and haven't quite grasped the fact that I can now let my imagination have full reign. I can now start looking further ahead and start choosing materials and make decisions based on a home that may actually exist some day.
We've even met a couple of builders and may be able to lock in a date before the end of the month. It all seems rather unreal but I'm sure it will sink in soon and I'll go nuts. Stay tuned for lots of posts detailing the boring minutiae of the reno.
This weekend I've been working on props for my Christmas shop window and as a result have got right into the spirit of the season - a little too early. These trees have taken my fancy although I don't think the kids would be impressed with their minimalism.
Through Facebook I've just re-discovered an old friend who has been living in the U.S. for the past 12 years. I thought I'd Google the area he lives in to get an idea of his life now and look what images came up...
I'm thinking he is probably doing alright for himself!!!
For Surfer Boy's birthday I briefly toyed with the idea of getting him an old caravan. I even went so far as to hunt through ebay looking for the perfect van. Heaven knows where we would have put it but Surfer Boy loves a project and I thought renovating one of these beauties would have been perfect.
I'll keep my eye out as I still think our driveway would look better for one of these parked in it.
