She's Off!

All went swinmmingly! She couldn't wait to go and when we got to the classroom she cheerfully kissed me goodbye and then ignored me. There was nothing for me to do except leave - which I promptly did. Now I just need to think what to do with Moondoggie for the rest of the year. Yikes!

Here's the shot I took through the window as I was leaving - see how upset she is to be at school...

lunchbox issue is easy. easily made sandwich cut with a zig-zag through the middle (for easy eating for small mouths) then you put in a juicebox of some sort, maybe a Prima or perhaps squeezey box juice. Now personally I wouldn't bother with the banana/apple idea, because I have never eaten one and they were always in there. A small pack of shapes/some sort of nice thing for Recess or "Snack" as we used to call it and of course, a fun-size mars-bar or something of the like. Now at this level of smallity, the kids are building up their trade skills so make sure they have something to bargain with you know?

ps. Do you carry your camera everywhere you go?

is prep school the same as kindy? in nsw they are 2 different things so was just wondering.

gidget looks adorable and looks all set for an exciting year!

was the lunch reference to things your daughter won't eat? or things she is not allowed to take (eg food with nuts, junk food)?

i'm a teacher and will be having kindy and year 1 this year so i'm sure i'll have lots of stories to share :)

Gorgeous uniform - much nicer than the MPS one.
My baby started yesterday and like Gidget was only too pleased to be there and suggested I go home after about five minutes.
I was a bit teary for all of ten minutes, but come the afternoon, I couldn't wait to get up there to see them both.

Jenny, I'm glad it went well- I see so many mums heartbroken on the first day and I want to say- go now...run home...use those precious free hours....don't you have a sewing machine....go go go

Glad it all went so well for you guys. I saw her this morning on a "tour of the school" (recognised her from the blog - how bizarre!) and she looked so happy as they all wandered past Carols office waving...she looked so adorable - as they all did!!! Didnt see you though!

She's adorable.
Don't worry about what to do with your son! I went through that last year. They are a little lost without their big sister for a while, but soon get used to it!
Get a Tupperware lunch box with all the cute compartments. My daughter loves eating from it. Food suggestions: corn crackers with Vegemite/some spread; cut up carrot/celery/cucumber/cherry tomatoes with little tub of Hommus; the Girl loves those horrible cheese Stringers; we have to pack a piece of fruit for their break and she just gets water. I'm mean. But I do give her a muffin/cookie that I bake and freeze in advance.
