Helping Andy

Congratulations!

You are now an official backer of "Be Here Now" – The Andy Whitfield Story.

I am so thrilled to play even a minute role in bringing Andy's story to life.  The star of 'Spartacus' passed away 18 months ago from cancer leaving a wife and two young children.  He touched my heart and I hope his documentary gets made so his light will continue to shine bright.

 Our Project:
“Be Here Now” is an inspiring feature documentary and love story, about the overnight sensation, actor and international sex symbol Andy Whitfield, who put the same determination and dedication that he brought to his lead role in the hit television show, “Spartacus: Blood and Sand,” into fighting life threatening cancer.
This is Andy's story, but it also about having the courage to make your dreams come true, tackling your fears and living in the present, despite the potential outcome. This film is for anyone who has ever faced a challenge in their lives.

Look What we've Got...

STAIRS!!

One guy turned up this morning and by lunchtime we had stairs.  I was beginning to wonder if we were going to have to use a ladder until the end of time - which may not have been so bad as I'd be able to pull it up behind me and keep everyone out of my studio - but now we have our stairs in and suddenly the studio is waaay more accessible.

Happy birthday Will

The 21st of June is my favourite day of the year - it's my birthday and so far I am having an absolute ripper.  I share this birthday with the future King of England.  When Will was born on my birthday 30 years ago I was absolutely thrilled and have followed his progress with special interest ever since.  You may think my 'Princess Watch' habit started with Kate but in actual fact it is just a pretty side-effect of my affinity with Will.

So - Happy Birthday Prince William, Duke of Cambridge.... what a lovely man you have turned out to be - your mother would be bursting with pride.

21st June 1982 - St Mary's Hospital London

 Will engaged to Kate Middleton
announced - Nov 16th 2010

Will marries Kate - April 29th 2011

His Royal Highness Prince William Arthur Philip Louis, Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn, Baron Carrickfergus, Royal Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, Knight of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle -
Or we can just call him Prince William of Wales!!

Princess Watch - Garter Parade

Yay - that's much better.  Kate wore the McQueen coat dress today to the Order of the Garter Parade.  The ladies all look lovely in their summery pastels.  This is the same dress that Kate wore to last year's Trooping the Colour event and it is just gorgeous.

A bit of history for the boffins - The Most Noble Order of the Garter was founded in 1348 by Edward III and is the highest order of chivalry existing in England. There can be only 24 members of The Order at any one time so it is a huge honour to be chosen.  William was the 1000th member when he was awarded the honour in 2008.

Tiles!

As of today I now have a favourite tradesman! Our tiler. This morning he and his posse arrived and by the time I arrived after work it was pretty much all done.  They swarmed in and just got on with it which believe me is rather rare in the world of renovating.
When I say all done - it is yet to be grouted but the kitchen, bathroom, laundry and WC have all been laid- wall and floor tiles.

Doesn't my tap look pretty against the tiles?  The grout will be white so I'm assuming it will look quite different once that's been done.
While all this was going on Poor SB (as I now like to call him) was spending hours with a roller above his head undercoating the ceilings.  I think he may also have finished the walls too.  Me thinks I'm beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel again.

Princess Watch.

Bare with me as I indulge in a little Duchess love.  Kate has had a busy couple of days so I'll just share a snippet of each event.(let me know if you want to see more or know more about any particular event)
Friday 15th - First up Kate hosted 150 children and young people from The Art Room at a performance of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe at Kensington Gardens.

She followed this on Saturday the 16th with an appearance at  Trooping The Colour at Buckingham Palace.  This is usually an event that would warrant it's own post but as this is the first time I am not a fan of Kate's outfit I'm just lumping it in with the others.  What do you think of her look?  The hat is reminiscent of Beatrice's wedding hat - it's a shade too big for my taste.

I do love this photo of Will and Kate on the balcony though.  It almost makes up for the nana outfit.
On Sunday Kate visited The Widehorizons Adventure Centre where she met with the kids and spent the morning taking part in the course, helping the inner city kids make fires and build shelters.

From there she grabbed the dog and headed off to watch Will and Harry play polo.  She's going to need an early night I'm tipping as today she is due at The Order Of The Garter event and it's Will's (and my) birthday on Thursday.  Busy week Kate.

This Week's Happenings

There are many reasons why I dislike Winter but I now have a new one - by the time I close the shop in the evening and get to the house it is too dark to see what has been done that day let alone take photos.  It's very frustrating.  I finally made it down there on Saturday in the daylight and here are some of the changes this week...

The kitchen is taking shape.
Not only the cabinets are in but my beautiful bench top has made it's way out of Gidget's bedroom to where it belongs.

They have begun to lay the flooring.
And my darling husband who hates painting has been furiously undercoating the ceilings so the electricians can install the downlights.

We had a visit from some of the cousins and they gave it a hearty thumbs up - mainly because the boys thought all the mud was 'cool'.

TV Fashion - Hart of Dixie (part 3)

To complete my Hart Of Dixie series it is now the boys turn - in this show even the boys have a style all their own.
Cress Williams as Mayor Lavon Hayes -

Scott Porter as George Tucker -

and Wilson Bethel as Wade Kinsella -

but let's be honest they all look better without their clothes on and Hart of Dixie ensures that there is always a pleasing lack of clothing when it comes to these guys.  Thank god for the hot weather in Bluebell!

In fact an episode of Hart Of Dixie is not complete without Wade removing his shirt and I say Amen to that!!
