It's That Time

This weekend I've been working on props for my Christmas shop window and as a result have got right into the spirit of the season - a little too early.  These trees have taken my fancy although I don't think the kids would be impressed with their minimalism.

Short Hills

Through Facebook I've just re-discovered an old friend who has been living in the U.S. for the past 12 years.  I thought I'd Google the area he lives in to get an idea of his life now and look what images came up...

I'm thinking he is probably doing alright for himself!!!

Camper

For Surfer Boy's birthday I briefly toyed with the idea of getting him an old caravan.  I even went so far as to hunt through ebay looking for the perfect van.  Heaven knows where we would have put it but Surfer Boy loves a project and I thought renovating one of these beauties would have been perfect. 

 I'll  keep my eye out as I still think our driveway would look better for one of these parked in it.

Looks like I'm not the only one who is a J H Lynch fan - the crazies from Clockwork Orange also seem to be keen collectors.  Don't know if I'm happy about having the same interiors taste as anyone from this movie.

Sultry Beauties

While we're on the subject of great presents - Surfer Boy and the kids have been at the Laverton Market this morning and a little while ago they rang to tell me that Gidget had spotted 'One of Mummy's girls'.

They then texted me a photo and I can't believe it - she has found a J.H. Lynch painting of 'Tina'.  This will mean nothing to 99% of you but just know that I am absolutely thrilled. 

She will hang next to 'Autumn Leaves' or 'Priscilla' as we call her and the hunt is on to find more of these sultry beauties.

Best Present Ever

Surfer Boy had his 40th last week and as most of his friends are aware, and a little in awe, of his lego minifigure collection he recieved various lego related gifts.  On Friday Surfer Boy rang me at work to tell me about his latest gift.  His friend Nicky had CARVED him a set of lego man bookends!!!!  Who does that?  Who is that talented?!  Nicky obviously.
They are fantastic and he hasn't stopped staring at them since they arrived.
We are now planning on talking her in to doing us a life size version for the new house....

God I love having talented friends.

RIP James Freud

What a hideous week it has been - losing two legends within days of each other.  The news has just come through that James Freud, lead singer of the Models, was found dead at home this morning.  Last week The Models were inducted into the ARIAs Hall of Fame and only days later we lose this Australian rock legend.

My sympathy goes out to his wife and two boys who have struggled alongside him through addictions and re-hab only to lose him at the end.

Cooking is a long way down on my list of favourite things to do but I love seeing what others conjure up and I am more than happy to taste the fruits of their labour.
