My Red Carpet Picks

Gwyneth is possibly one of the most annoying people on the planet BUT I hate to say it - she looks amazing.
She gets my vote as best dressed of the night.
Gwyn is closely followed by Miss Hailee Steinfeld who could not look lovelier, or more age-appropriate if she tried.  The perfect look for a girl who has just turned 15.

Nicole Kidman

She's not high on my list of favourite people but she's married to 'my Keith' and I love this image of her.  Good luck tonight Nicole.

One job down

Steel doors and windows being quoted as we speak - fingers and toes crossed that they're within budget!

Now That's How To Style a Shoot

A little while ago Eliza posted about  children's wear designer, Dominique VerEecke, and although I love her clothing - it is her styling that really excites me. Just perfect.

PRINT

On the odd time that I have given in to temptation and Googled pictures of myself, and lets face it we have all done it at least once, I am likely to be disappointed because unless I am a fabulous print designer, or a member of the Cheetah Girls, there isn't a lot of interest.

To this end I thought I would share with you some of the fabulous prints by Orla Kiely because although we share a surname, her googled pics are a hell of a lot more interesting than mine.
(Maybe Cheetah Girl Kiely next week!)

And just in case you can't afford to decorate the entire house in Orla Kiely - here are some more affordable options courtesy of orlakiely.com

And here is the talented lady herself...

Peeping In - Rob Lowe

There is no way that anybody reading this does not think Rob Lowe is still one of the sexiest men on the planet - unless they are dead from the waist down.  Rob was arguably the 'prettiest' boy I'd ever seen in the 80's and he has defied all odds and just got better with age.  Anyway.... I thought we'd better take a look at Rob's home and blimey is it something!!  Take a look..

And while we're outside let's take a look around.  Do you like???

Can you imagine how many rooms there are in that house that we haven't seen - mind boggling.
At least now we can picture what Mr Lowe is doing on the next sunny day - isn't that a lovely visual....

“I always wanted that house where everybody wants to go,” says the actor, “full of energy, dogs, music, fun. I wanted ours to be that house, and it is. ‘Family home’ is a trite phrase, but that’s exactly what we have. Nothing makes me happier,” he adds, a seeming catch in his voice, “than the life that goes on within these walls, the history that’s being created here every minute, every day.”

M&Ms

Oh my god - how did I not know about these????

A customer came in today to pick up something for her daughter's wedding and she told me she had just ordered 5kilos of PERSONALISED M&Ms!!!

I nearly fell over - how fun.  It turns out you can order just one colour too which would help me out as I can not seem to eat M&Ms without arranging the colours first.  I am physically incapable of putting a handful of them in my mouth randomly.  I have to eat them in colours or colour combinations - weird I know.  Does anyone else have the same problem?

I really, really want an excuse to order bags of personalised M&Ms - maybe I could put the CHALK logo on a couple of kilos.....hmmm the possibilities are endless.....

Wish List

Remember the circus ring I wanted a few posts ago?  Well it turns out I want one of everything they sell!

An M&M ring - are they kidding?  That's genius!!

Water for Elephants

I finally got around to reading Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen and I am so glad that I did.  It was a delightful book choc full of the sounds and smells of a depression-era circus, and the drama and emotion of life and love.
The story follows Jacob, a veterinary student who abandons his studies after his parents are killed and joins a traveling circus as their vet.  His life becomes more complicated when he becomes involved in the marriage of August, the animal trainer and Marlena, a performer.

I wasn't sure if I should read the book as the movie will be released soon but I'm glad that I did - I made sure I pictured the lead actors in the roles so as not to be disappointed in the movie.  It worked a treat and I am now doubly interested in seeing it come to life on screen.

Marlena - Reece Witherspoon
Jacob - Robert Pattinson
August - Christoph Waltz
Rosie the Elephant

If you haven't already picked it up, I suggest you do - or at least take yourself to see it at the movies.  Hopefully you'll love it as much as I did.
